On Saturday (June 15) early in the day, a man was hospitalised in life-threatening condition following an awful accident that happened in a police chase scenario. At around 4.30 am, the Met Police were informed by Essex Police that a car that had failed to stop on the M11 was being pursued.
The vehicle then collided with a barrier on the A406 North Circular Southbound before breaking through this barrier out of the carriageway. There were no other casualties, according to a representative from the Metropolitan Police Department who was quoted in an interview conducted last week.
The A406 North Circular Southbound has been closed from A104 Woodford New Road (Waterworks Corner, South Woodford) to A12 Eastern Avenue (Redbridge Roundabout, Redbridge) for over 10 hours. Engineers are working on accident investigation and barrier repairs. Therefore, because there are severe delays, you should only go through if you need to and make sure that you leave with ample time.
A spokesperson from Met Police revealed to them last week before dawn that Essex Police whom they were working with had already begun chasing a car from M11, Essex since 4.31 am. By that time this car had refused to stop. Later it crossed over to areas covered by the Met.
The people from Essex later confirmed that the car hit a barrier on the A406 highway, after which it left the road. The car driver was rushed to the hospital and according to doctors, he is in critical condition whereas no other person sustained any injuries.
A scene managed is in place by the Met due to it being in our area. Met officers were not involved in the pursuit. The incident is still under investigation. The LAS has been contacted for comment.
